. I recently purchased a brand new Brother PE Design 6.0 for my 64-bit Windows 10 system.
I have a few questions:
1) How do I upgrade PE Design 6 to the latest. The newest PE Design Software from Brother is PE 6.0.... PE Design Serial - User's Guide.
If the new version is not compatible with your system, you must use a serial or parallel card reader/writer. Use this to read the updated PE Design Software. 2. Log in to your Brother Home page at Brother.com and select Support. 3. Select your home-use embroidery machine model and serial or parallel card reader/writer. The serial version is not compatible with 64-bit systems. I was just handed a license code for PE Design 6.0 by my Brother Service Agent and he did not provide a serial or parallel card reader/writer.
The serial version of PE Design 6.0 is not compatible with Windows 64-bit systems. Windows compatibility lets you preview thumbnails of your designs without having a full copy of the software.

In the letter dated March 26, 2018 (p. 4) from Brother to PE-Design users, the following appears:
"Brother has completed support for Windows XP for the retail and single use cards of the PE-Design series.
Note: Windows XP with PE-Design v5.x is only supported on the retail card of the PE-Design series."
It appears that Brother has discontinued support for Windows XP on the retail card of the PE-Design series, but continues to support Windows XP on the single use card of the PE-Design series.
The letter dated March 9, 2017 (p. 4) from Brother to PE-Design users states:
"Brother continues to support Windows 7 as well as the retail cards of the PE-Design series. It is not currently supported for the single use cards of the PE-Design series."
Therefore, the software will not run on Windows 7.
Although Brother will continue to support Windows 7 for the single use cards of the PE-Design series, it will not support Windows 7 on the retail card of the PE-Design series.
